IT GOES, WHEREAS IN THE FACE OF UNPRECEDENTED CHALLENGES BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE GLOBAL COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE RESILIENT AND COMPASSIONATE SPIRIT OF THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN RICHARDSON AND ACROSS NORTH TEXAS, SHOWN RIGHTLY.

AND WHEREAS UNDER THE INSPIRATIONAL LEADERSHIP OF MARU, THE PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR OF THE MUSLIM AMERICAN SOCIETY ISLAMIC CENTER IN RICHARDSON, AND WITH THE COLLABORATION OF MORE THAN 20 LOCAL RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS AND ISLAMIC INSTITUTIONS INCLUDED NTX, MUSLIM GIVING, ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION OF NORTH TEXAS AND MUSLIM AMERICAN SOCIETY, THE COMMUNITY ROSE TO THE OCCASION.

AND WHEREAS THE MUSLIM MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN A DEMONSTRATION OF SOLIDARITY AND GOODWILL INITIATED A REMARKABLE EFFORT TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND NOURISHMENT TO THOSE ON THE FRONT LINE OF THE BATTLE AGAINST THE PANDEMIC.

AND WHEREAS THIS COMMEMORABLE INITIATIVE INCLUDED THE DELIVERY OF OVER 100,000 HOT MEALS TO DEDICATED FRONTLINE WORKERS AND INSTITUTIONS SUCH AS THE RICHARDSON METHODIST HOSPITAL, RICHARDSON POLICE DEPARTMENT, RICHARDSON WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT TEAM, RICHARDSON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND MORE THAN 10 HOSPITALS IN NORTH TEXAS.

AND WHEREAS THE BENEVOLENT EFFORTS EXTENDED BEYOND INSTITUTIONAL BOUNDARIES TO TOUCH THE LIVES OF CITY OF RICHARDSON EMPLOYEES AND STAFF ACROSS ALL DEPARTMENTS AND FACILITIES, ENSURING THEIR WELLBEING DURING THESE CHALLENGING TIMES.

AND WHEREAS THIS SELFLESS COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY WELLBEING ALSO EMBRACED RECENT REFUGEES, THE HOMELESS POPULATION IN DALLAS AND FORT WORTH, AND EXTENDED FURTHER TO THOSE IN NEED BEYOND CITY BORDERS.

AND, UM, I JUST WANTED TO TALK TO MAKE A REMINDER ABOUT HOW CLOSE THIS ISSUE IS, THAT IT'S NOT A FAR AWAY THING.

IN ADDITION TO AMERICAN TAXES, GOING TO FUND THE BOMBS THAT ARE KILLING AND MUTILATING PEOPLE IN KAZA.

UM, WE ALSO HAVE LOTS OF ISSUES THAT ARE HAPPENING HERE IN THE US THAT ARE DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THOSE.

JUST YESTERDAY, A ACTIVE US, UM, SERVICE MEMBER LIT HIMSELF ON FIRE AND PROTEST, UH, AND HE CLAIMED THAT HE DID NOT WANNA BE COMPLICIT IN A GENOCIDE.

UM, AND HE WAS THE SECOND PERSON TO DO SO BECAUSE OF THE GENOCIDE AND GAZA.

UM, UH, AND THERE WAS ANOTHER PERSON THAT ALSO DID THE SAME THING, UH, TRYING TO BRING ATTENTION TO WHAT'S HAPPENING IN CONGO JUST A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THAT.

UM, ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A MAN WHO WAS FROM DALLAS, WHO WAS STABBED A FEW WEEKS AGO IN AUSTIN, UM, BECAUSE HE WAS PALESTINIAN AND BECAUSE HE HAD ATTENDED A PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTEST, UM, THERE HAVE BEEN THREATS MADE TO PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF LOCAL MOSQUES IN THE DFW AREA.

SO I AM JUST WANTING TO REITERATE THAT THIS ISSUE IS PRESENT.

IT'S URGENT, AND IT IS RIGHT HERE IN DFW.

AS A LONGTIME RICHARDSON RESIDENT AND A JEWISH AMERICAN I COM COME BEFORE YOU WITH A HEAVY HEART AND A FEELING OF IMMENSE SORROW TO VOICE MY SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSAL THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF RICHARDSON, TEXAS PUT TO A VOTE, A CEASEFIRE RESOLUTION BY GRACIOUSLY PROVIDING THIS TIME, YOU HAVE GIVEN A VOICE TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO EXPRESS THEIR GRIEF, ANGUISH, AND HUMANITY.

AT THIS MOST PAINFUL OF TIMES, NO ONE SHOULD EVER UNDERESTIMATE THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR FELLOW RESIDENTS COMING BEFORE THIS COUNCIL TO SUPPORT THIS PROPOSAL.

SOME HAVE SAID THAT A STATEMENT BY THE CITY COUNCIL CALLING FOR A CEASEFIRE WOULD HAVE NO BEARING.

BECAUSE THIS ISSUE RELATES TO AN INTERNATIONAL SITUATION.

HISTORY TELLS A DIFFERENT STORY.

NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR SEEMINGLY INSIGNIFICANT EVERY ACTION

THOSE WHO HAVE SPOKEN AT PAST MEETINGS HAVE ALREADY MADE A DIFFERENCE.

I AM HERE TONIGHT BECAUSE I WAS INSPIRED BY THOSE WHO SPOKE AT THE LAST CITY COUNCIL MEETING.

THE ELOQUENT AND HEARTFELT WORDS SPOKEN THAT EVENING UNDOUBTEDLY AFFECTED EACH OF YOU AS WELL.

PERHAPS YOU EVEN SHARED SOME OF WHAT YOU HEARD WITH FAMILY, FOR FRIENDS OR COLLEAGUES FURTHER AMPLIFYING THE IMPACT.

RICHARDSON IS A WONDERFULLY DIVERSE COMMUNITY, AND WE ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVE A CITY COUNCIL THAT EMBRACES THE RICHNESS AND VIBRANCY THAT PEOPLE FROM SO MANY DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS BRING TOGETHER WITHIN OUR CITY.

SOME RESIDENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE EXPERIENCING FROM AFAR UNIMAGINABLE TRAUMA CAUSED BY THE VIOLENT LOSS OF FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS DURING THIS CATASTROPHE.

OTHERS HAVE SUFFERED THE TRAUMA OF FINDING OUT THAT FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS HAVE SUFFERED LIFE CHANGING INJURIES, THE LOSS OF THEIR HOMES AND POSSESSIONS, AND THE LOSS OF CLEAN WATER AND FOOD NECESSARY TO SUSTAIN THEIR LIVES.

IS SILENCE A CHOICE? WHEN SILENCE IMPLIES TACIT ACCEPTANCE OF THE ENORMOUS SUFFERING THAT IS TAKING PLACE.

A STATEMENT CALLING FOR A CEASEFIRE WILL GIVE SOLACE AND EXPRESS COMPASSION FOR OUR RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY THIS TRAGEDY, AND IT WILL DEMONSTRATE THE SOLIDARITY OF OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMUNITY CONVEYING OUR SUPPORT FOR PEACE, JUSTICE, HUMANITY, AND LIFE HISTORY.

OVERFLOWS RE REGRETS FOR NOT STANDING UP FOR WHAT IS MORAL, JUST AND RIGHTEOUS.

FOR THE PAST FOUR MONTHS, I HAVE DEVOTED MYSELF TO FOLLOWING THE DAILY EVENTS OF THIS CRISIS.

THE THOUSANDS OF IMAGES OF SUFFERING ARE HORRIFIC, BUT I REFUSE TO LOOK AWAY.

I BELIEVE THAT ONE MUST SPEAK OUT AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE SPEAKING OUT IS ALL THAT MOST OF US CAN DO.

PLEASE DO NOT QUESTION THE IMPORTANCE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS CALL TO ACTION.

ACCEPTING A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A CEASEFIRE WILL FIRMLY CENTER OUR CITY COUNCIL AS A MORAL COMPASS FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

UM, AS WE'VE DE UH, DUG A LITTLE DEEPER INTO SOME OF THESE, UH, WE ARE SEEING SOME POSITIVE SIGNS, UM, WHEN YOU EXCLUDE DECEMBER, AS WELL AS REMOVE ANY AUDIT ADJUSTMENTS.

THE OTHER THREE MONTHS WERE ACTUALLY ABOVE LAST YEAR.

UH, SO THERE WAS SOME POSITIVE SIGNS THERE.

AND THEN WHEN WE LOOKED AT SOME OF THE SUBCATEGORIES OR CATEGORIES OF SALES TAX, UH, WE WERE ABLE TO SEE THAT MOST OF THEM ARE STILL CONTINUING TO GROW YEAR OVER YEAR, ALTHOUGH THAT GROWTH MIGHT BE SLOWING IN SOME CASES.

THE TWO AREAS WHERE WE DID SEE A DECLINE, UH, WAS IN COMMERCIAL TECHNOLOGY LEASING, UH, WHICH WOULD BE, UM, OFFICE EQUIPMENT, UM, PCS, UH, SWITCHES, PRINTERS, THAT KIND OF STUFF.

AS WELL AS, UH, SALES TAX FROM, UH, INSURANCE SERVICES, SUCH AS, UH, UM, APPRAISALS AND CLAIMS PROCESSING.

SO THIS WOULD BE DEFINITELY SOMETHING WE'LL CONTINUE TO MONITOR OVER THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS.

UM, BUT, UH, WE'RE, RIGHT NOW WE'RE KIND OF SEEING SOME MIXED SIGNS, UH, BUT IT, IT DEFINITELY IS SOMETHING WORTH, UH, PAYING ATTENTION TO.

UM, WITH THAT SAID, UH, OUR DEPARTMENTS CONTINUE TO DO A GOOD JOB OF MONITORING EXPENDITURES, AND WE'RE, WE'RE STARTING TO IDENTIFY, UH, EXPEN OR SAVINGS WHERE WE COULD POSSIBLY OFFSET, UM, UH, A POSSIBLE SHORTFALL IF THAT DOES MATERIALIZE AT YEAR END, UH, THE REMAINING REVENUES ARE PERFORMING AS ANTICIPATED.

IT'S RESULTING OF THE TIMING OF PAYMENTS ON, ON FOR INSURANCE PREMIUMS, AND THEN THE MAINTENANCE CATEGORIES BEING IMPACTED BY PLANNED EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE, UH, AS THE COURSE WENT INTO CLOSURE, UM, UH, BEGINNING IN, IN JANUARY, UH, HOTEL MEL FUND AND OTHER, UH, SOLID FUND, UH, TOTAL REVENUE 1.9 MILLION, OR ROUGHLY 20, UH, ALMOST 21% OF THE TOTAL REVENUE COMPARED TO, UH, 1.7 MILLION LAST YEAR.

UH, THE LARGEST REVENUE SOURCE IN THIS FUND IS HOTEL MOTEL TAXES, UH, CURRENTLY TRACKING AS ANTICIPATE ACTUALLY A LITTLE BIT ABOVE, UH, 16,000 ABOVE LAST YEAR, AND 62,000 ABOVE OUR TARGET THROUGH THE END OF THE FIRST QUARTER.

UM, TOTAL EXPENDITURES, UH, ONE POINT, ALMOST ONE POINT, UH, 9 MILLION, UH, COMPARED TO, UH, 1.5 MILLION LAST YEAR.

AGAIN, ALL, ALL THE VARIANCES ARE RELATED TO TIMING, WHETHER THAT'S, UH, WHEN THE SHOWS OCCUR OR WHETHER, UH, WHEN WE'VE GOTTEN INVOICES.

SO WE'RE NOT SEEING IT AS IN ANY OF THE FUNDS.

ANYTHING, UH, OTHER THAN, UH, THE, THE SALES TAX, WE'VE TOUCHED ON THAT, THAT REALLY IS LYING OUTSIDE OF WHERE WE ANTICIPATED BEING.

UM, WE, WE DO HAVE A COUPLE THINGS THAT IT WILL BE ON OUR MIND OVER THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS, INCLUDING, UH, COMMERCIAL PROPERTY VALUES, UM, WHERE THEY'RE GONNA COME IN.

WE'LL START RECEIVING PRELIMINARY VALUES IN MAY, UH, SALES TAX TRENDS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS.

UH, WE SHOULD BE GETTING ANOTHER ONE IN ABOUT TWO TO TWO AND A HALF WEEKS, AS WELL AS WHERE INTEREST RATES GOING.

UH, THAT NOT ONLY IMPACTS OUR INTEREST EARNINGS, BUT AS WELL AS AS, UH, SOME OF OUR BORROWING CAPABILITIES.

UM, ALL OF OUR DEPARTMENTS, UM, ARE, UH, CURRENTLY TRACKING ALL OF THEIR EXPENSES AND TRYING TO IDENTIFY ANY AREAS OF POSSIBLE SAVINGS IN RESPONSE TO A POSSIBLE SHORTFALL.

UH, AND WE WE'RE GONNA BE MINDFUL OF THIS NOT ONLY FOR THIS YEAR, BUT WE'RE ABOUT TO LAUNCH ON OUR, UH, PLAN, UH, DEVELOPING OUR PLAN FOR NEXT YEAR.

UM, AND, AND WE JUST GOTTA LOOK FOR CONTINUED TRENDS TO SEE WHAT WE CAN, UH, FIGURE OUT ON THAT.

UH, BUT IT DEFINITELY WILL HAVE POSITIVE PRESSURE ON NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET.

WE DO FIRE PREVENTION, UM, THROUGH EDUCATION AND ENFORCEMENT, UH, TACTICAL EMS WITH OUR SWAT MEDICS ASSIGNED TO THE RICHARDSON POLICE DEPARTMENT SWAT UNIT.

UH, WE HAVE A HAZARDOUS MATERIALS MITIGATION TEAM.

WE HANDLE DISASTER RESPONSE AND PUBLIC ASSISTANCE.

UH, OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT ORGANIZATIONAL CHART HASN'T CHANGED AS FAR AS THE CHART ITSELF.

THE NUMBERS HAVE CHANGED.

UH, LAST YEAR YOU GAVE ME NINE ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL, THREE FIREFIGHTERS TO MAN, UH, THE BLOCKER UNIT, AND THEN SIX TO, UH, UP OUR STAFFING TO HELP, UH, ELIMINATE THE, UH, NEED FOR MANDATORY OVERTIME.

SO THOSE NUMBERS ARE REFLECTED, BUT THE OVERALL CHART IS THE SAME.

OUR, UM, STAFFING, THAT IS OUR CURRENT STAFFING.

AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE

SO RIGHT NOW, IF IN THE BLUE SECTION AT THE BOTTOM, WE'RE ACTUALLY OVER IN FIREFIGHTERS, THOSE GUYS ARE IN THE ACADEMY.

WE HAVE 18 PERSONNEL IN THE FIRE ACADEMY AT THIS TIME.

SO THAT ACCOUNTS FOR THE, THE OVERAGE, THE, THE BOTTOM NUMBERS.

THAT IS FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES ONLY.

SO THAT HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW.

THAT IS, UH, THREE PART-TIME INSPECTORS POSITIONS THAT, UH, WE HAVE IN THE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE.

THIS IS INTERESTING.

THIS IS OUR YEARS OF SERVICE.

SO OVER IN THE BLUE, THE 37%, THAT'S ZERO TO FIVE YEARS.

AND THEN THE ORANGE IS, UH, SIX TO 10 YEARS.

WE'RE A VERY YOUNG DEPARTMENT.

SO IT, IT IS A REALLY GREAT TIME FOR US.

OUR RECRUITING AND HIRING IS, IS DOING VERY WELL.

OUR RECRUITING EFFORTS ARE WORKING IN THE CITY.

WE HAVE THE SIGN ON BONUSES, THE LATERAL ENTRY PROGRAM, THE EMPLOYEE REFERRAL PROGRAM, UM, TO SHOW THAT OUR LAST HIRING, WHICH OCCURRED IN JANUARY, STARTED OFF ABOUT AUGUST OF LAST YEAR WITH THE RECRUITING.

WE HAD 594 APPLICATIONS, 586 ACTUALLY SIGNED UP TO TAKE THE WRITTEN TEST.

ONLY 297 SHOWED UP FOR THE WRITTEN TEST.

UH, THEN AFTER IT WAS ALL SAID AND DONE, THROUGH ALL THE REST THROUGH THE PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS, THE, UH, BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS, THE INTERVIEWS THAT THEY HAD TO GO THROUGH, WE HIRED 18 PEOPLE, WHICH IS NOW CLASS 45.

AND WE HAVE A LIST OF 59 REMAINING ON THE LIST.

SO IF WE NEEDED TO, WE COULD GO BACK, BUT WE'D HAVE TO DO THE WHOLE PROCESS EXCEPT FOR THE WRITTEN TEST AGAIN.

SO, BUT OUR EFFORTS ARE, ARE WORKING IN THE CITY FOR OUR TRAINING.

WE ACTUALLY HIT 56,121 HOURS OF TRAINING, INCLUDING FOUR HOURS OF E-M-S-C-E PER PARAMEDIC PER MONTH.

SO LOTS AND LOTS OF TRAINING, UM, A LOT OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

LAST YEAR WE REPLACED AMBULANCE 31 AT STATION ONE.

UH, WE PUT AMBULANCE 36 IN SERVICE ON OCTOBER 8TH, I BELIEVE IT WAS 1ST OF OCTOBER.

UH, IT WENT INTO SERVICE.

WE INCORPORATED THE MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATIONS.

THAT'S, UH, YOU GRACIOUSLY GAVE US IN THE LAST BUDGET.

UH, WE RECEIVED OUR GOLD PLUS RECOGNITION FROM THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION, MICHIGAN LIFELINE.

AGAIN, WE MAINTAINED OUR HEART SAFE COMMUNITY.

SO ALL IN ALL IS 24 HOURS OF TRAINING PER MONTH, WHICH IS PRETTY INTERESTING BECAUSE SHIFT PERSONNEL WORK 10 OR 10 DAYS A MONTH, RIGHT ON THE SHIFTS.

SO ONE FULL DAY, IT'S NOT, IT'S SPREAD OUT OVER THE ENTIRE MONTH, BUT ONE BASICALLY 24 HOUR SHIFT IS, IS TOTAL TRAINING.

SO IT HAPPENED ON SITE, LIKE YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEND OUT SOMEONE OUTSIDE CITY, IT ANY FIRE TRAINING COUNTS.

MOST OF IT IS SCHEDULED.

SO CHIEF DAVIS, OUR, UH, BATTALION CHIEF OF TRAINING, HE SCHEDULES WITHOUT 20 HOURS OF TRAINING.

THAT CAN BE VIDEOS THAT ARE ASSIGNED.

WE LEFT, UH, ABOUT SIX O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING TO GET THE SIX 30 BUS.

AND CA WE CAME BACK HOME ABOUT NINE O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING.

SO VISITING THE PRISON SYSTEM, I NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD VISIT ONE DAY, BUT AGAIN, THIS IS HAPPENED.

UH, AND THIS IS A, YOU KNOW, I WOULD NOT SAY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

THIS IS EXPERIENCE.

I KNOW A LOT MORE ABOUT THE PRISON SYSTEM THAT I, I KNEW BEFORE THAT WAS FROM THE MOVIE.

AND IT DOES LOOK LIKE SOME OF THE THINGS LOOKED LIKE THE MOVIE SET UP.

UH, AND THERE WERE SOME MOVIE WAS REALLY WAS DONE IN THAT SYSTEM THERE IN THE PRISON THERE.

BUT, UH, YOU KNOW, AND THERE ARE TWO THINGS HAPPENED DURING THAT TIME.

ONE WAS LIKE EMOTIONAL THINKING, OTHER ONE WAS PRACTICAL THINKING.

UH, THE EMOTIONAL PART WAS THAT I'M, SO, I, I IMMEDIATELY, I SAID THAT I'M, I WAS, I'M, I'M SO MUCH BLESSED THAT I WAS BORN IN A NICE FAMILY AND SOMETIMES, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE ARE THERE NOT NECESSARILY BECAUSE OF THE CRIME THAT THEY DID, AND ALSO BECAUSE THE PLACE, THEY WERE IN THE WRONG TIME AND THEY WERE IN THE WRONG PLACE IN OUR OPINION.

BUT GOD KNOWS THE BEST WHAT HAPPENED REALLY.

UH, BUT, UH, YOU KNOW, BUT THERE ARE FEW THINGS PROBABLY COULD BE DONE BY THINKING OUT OF THE BOX SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN, THAT PRISON HAS BEEN THERE FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS, MORE THAN A HUNDRED YEARS.

ONE THING I SAW THAT WAS VERY INTERESTING THAT THEY DO, THEY MADE HANDMADE THINGS, UH, CUSTOMIZED LIKE BAG.

I'M SURE COUNCILMAN PROBABLY, UH, COUNCILMAN JUST, UH, JENNIFER, JUST NAME.

SHE MIGHT HAVE BOSS, UH, BOUGHT SOME, UH, DESIGNER HANDBAGS OR SOMETHING THERE.

AND I THINK COUNCIL MEMBER CART PROBABLY WOULD BE BUYING HANDMADE BOOT .

SO HE IS BEEN TALKING ABOUT THAT.

BUT TO ME THOSE ARE LIKE, UH, WAY, WAY NICE THINGS THEY MAKE THERE.

AND THIS IS THE SABRINA MEMORIAL FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER.

THE SABRINA MEMORIAL FOUNDATION IS A FOUNDATION BASED OUT OF RICHARDSON, UH, PRIMARILY MADE UP, UM, AND ATTENDED BY THE BANGLADESHI COMMUNITY HERE, UH, IN RICHARDSON AND SURROUNDING CITIES.

AND THEY WORK, THE MONEY GOES TO FA EVERYTHING FROM CLEAN DRINKING WATER TO ACCESS, UM, MEDICAL EXAMS, HOUSING FOR ORPHANS, HOUSING FOR SENIORS, UH, BOTH IN BANGLADESH AND IN KENYA.

AND, UH, IT WAS AN HONOR TO BE INVITED, FIRST OF ALL.

AND IT WAS AN HONOR TO, UH, TO GET TO LEARN, UM, ABOUT THE AMAZING WORK THEY DO.

AND I THINK IT JUST GOES TO SPEAK THAT A LOT OF THE WORK, BOTH ON A, UH, ON AN INDUSTRY LEVEL THAT HAPPENS HERE IN RICHARDSON TO THE NONPROFIT, UM, WORK THAT OUR COMMUNITY DOES, GOES SO FAR BEYOND THE BORDERS OF RICHARDSON OF TEXAS OR EVEN THE UNITED STATES, OR EVEN THIS HEMISPHERE.

UM, IT, SO THERE WAS A LOT OF, A LOT OF GOOD HAPPENING BECAUSE OF SOME OF THE PEOPLE IN OUR, OUR NEIGHBORS IN THE COMMUNITY.

UM, I MEAN, IT'S HARD TO ARGUE AGAINST CLEAN DRINKING WATER, SOMETHING THAT, UH, THANKS TO, UM, HERE IN TEXAS, WE, OR AT LEAST HERE IN NORTH TEXAS AND RICHARDSON, WE DON'T HAVE THAT ISSUE.

SO, UM, I REALLY ENJOYED THAT EVENING.

AND IT'S, THEY'RE THE ONES THAT CARE FOR ALL OF OUR RECYCLING.

AND IT WAS JUST FASCINATING TO BE ABLE TO GO THROUGH THAT FACILITY, SEE WHAT ALL IS FA UH, UM, WHAT IS RECYCLED, WHAT CAN'T BE RECYCLED AND, AND ALL OF THAT.

SO I WOULD JUST, UM, IF, UM, YOU KNOW, IF YOU NEED A PLACE FOR YOUR CHILDREN TO HAVE A BIRTHDAY PARTY, THEY'VE GOT A REALLY NEAT CENTER THERE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE BIRTHDAY PARTIES AND KIDS CAN LEARN ABOUT RECYCLING.

UM, AND I WALKED AWAY WITH FEW THINGS MYSELF THAT I, I DIDN'T FULLY UNDERSTAND.

AND SO I JUST WANNA THANK, UH, THE FOLKS WITH REPUBLIC FOR TAKING THEIR SATURDAY MORNING AND TOURING THE SEVEN OF US AROUND AND SPENDING TIME WITH US.

AND SO, JUST A REALLY NICE EVENING AND JUST WANNA, UH, WANNA GO BACK ON SOMETHING THAT, THAT WE TALKED ABOUT EARLIER THIS EVENING.

YOU KNOW, THE, IT'S ABSOLUTELY SPECIAL AND THERE'S NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT.

AND I DON'T WANNA TAKE AWAY IT ALL FROM THE, FROM THE LIFESAVING AWARDS THAT WE SEE AT THE, AT THE, UM, UM, FIRE DEPARTMENT ANNUAL AWARDS, BUT ALSO RECOGNIZE THAT FOR EVERY ONE OF THOSE, THERE'S, THERE'S SEVERAL WHERE OUR FIREFIGHTERS GO AND WE CAN'T COLLECTIVELY, IF YOU WILL SAVE SOMEONE, AND THEY SPEND A LOT OF TIME WITH THOSE FAMILIES AND WITH THOSE PEOPLE AS WELL.

UM, YOU KNOW, HELPING.

I MEAN, NOT THAT IN MANY CASES YOU CAN EVEN BEGIN TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAS OCCURRED, BUT, UM, SO I, I THINK THAT'S WHY IT'S, IT, YOU KNOW, I, I ALWAYS, I'M ALWAYS, I'M ALWAYS QUITE GRATEFUL TO SEE ALL OF THOSE SAVES, BUT I ALSO KNOW IN THE BACKGROUND THAT THERE'S MORE THAT WE WERE NOT ABLE TO SAVE.

AND THE FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE AND EVERYONE WORKED VERY, VERY COLLECTIVELY TOGETHER TO, TO TAKE CARE OF THOSE FAMILIES AS WELL.

SO I JUST WANTED TO MENTION THAT.

'CAUSE SOMETIMES WE GET CAUGHT UP ON THE, THE BIG SAVES AND IT IS EXCITING AND EVERYBODY'S EXCITED ABOUT IT, BUT THERE'S THE OTHER SIDE OF IT AS WELL.

SO I JUST WANTED TO MENTION THAT.

NOT TO BRING DOWN THE EVENING, BUT JUST WANTED TO, TO MENTION THAT.

IT'S THE FREE HEALTH FAIR THAT'S PUT ON BY THE AMERICAN MUSLIM WOMEN'S PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATION, AND THEY HOSTED IT.

AND THEY DO EVERYTHING FROM CHECKING YOUR GLUCOSE LEVELS TO YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE, TO YOUR BONE DENSITY.

THEY CHECK YOUR EYES, THEY'LL DO ALMOST ANYTHING THERE.

AND IT'S, THEY ARE PHYSICIANS THAT ARE JUST GIVING UP THEIR TIME.

AND THEY DO THIS EVERY YEAR, AND THEY, IT'S A GREAT GROUP OF LADIES.

SO I WANTED TO GET A, GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THEM FOR THEIR COMPASSION AND HEART AND WHAT THEY DO IN OUR CITY.

ALSO, THE, UH, GREATER DALLAS TAIWANESE LUNAR NEW YEAR CHARITY GALA WAS REALLY FABULOUS AND, UM, WAS THERE LAST NIGHT AS WELL.

AND THEN MR. MAGNER AND CHIEF TITTLE AND I, THIS PAST WEEK WENT TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT WORKFORCE RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION SYMPOSIUM.

THAT'S A MOUTHFUL.

BUT THE INTENTION, IT'S A, UH, REGIONAL EFFORT FOR US TO FIND WAYS TO KEEP THE BEST, RECRUIT THE BEST, AND HAVE THE BEST IN OUR, UH, POLICE FORCES, SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENTS, FIRE DEPARTMENTS, ALL THE WAY AROUND.
